Anu Suomalainen, MD PhD,  is Academy Professor of Clinical Molecular Medicine in the University of Helsinki and Chief Physician in the University Helsinki Hospital.  She heads her translational Mitochondrial Medicine research group in University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine. The group focuses on molecular pathophysiology, metabolic reprogramming and mechanisms of tissue-specificity in mitochondrial and degenerative disorders, and uses molecular knowledge to develop tailored treatments.
